Welcome to House of Pino's Tournament Rules.
Our rules designed to be fair and fun. The rules are guidelines for the players and TD's to follow. It is not possible to cover every specific situation that may arise. TD's are trained to handle most situations and use their best judgement and experience for anything else that may happen.
If you have a question or concern about how a tournament was run, please ask the TD for an explanation. There may be some information they have that you don't. If you still are not satisfied, please do not argue with the TD. They are volunteers. Do feel free to discuss it with the TD manager or one of the admins. We may not be able to correct the situation but we can look at updating our guidelines to prevent it from happening again.
LOCATION
All games are to be played in Yahoo pinochle in Yahoo BEGINNER 3.
TABLE SETTINGS
Tables 1-5 are ok to play on.
All tables will be set on un-rated and protected at least 20 to score and extra score for duplicate sequences, no forced forfeits (ff) and unrated.
Uncheck bottom 2 boxes.
Then make the table protected and invite the TD and other players.
TABLE HOPPERS - KIBITZ
Kibbies should be off during tourneys. There are table hoppers and to insure a good tourney please turn your kibitz off. In addition you are not allowed to kibbie at a table if you are watching so please don't kibbie and don't ask.
If someone comes to the table and kibbies the host should boot them immediately.
Game Rules
Games rules can be found here. There is also a link on the main page.
TD's should also post game rules on the main tourney page.
TD's will set the length of the game - number of hands (usually 4, 6 or 8) or NHC (Yahoo declaring a winner).
In the case of a tie, two additional hands of the same game shall be played. In 4 x 4 and Reversaroo the extra games shall be regular pino.
Occasionally, due to time constraints, it may be necessary to shorten the games in the later rounds. Particularly in a big tourney with another tournament scheduled immediately after. In this case the TD has the discretion to shorten the hand counts to 4 hands. However, the two TD's should make every effort to find subs in order to minimze the disruptions and to maximize the ability of players to win their game.
A Boston (pulling 20 tricks) is a automatic win and the game will be considered over at this point, if the team receiving the boston wishes to receive the boston for a win.
Ties - If a game is tied after the prescribed number of hands then two additional hands shall be played. Subsequent ties shall be decided with one hand being played. A Reverse Boston is pulling 0 tricks. Same win option applies as a regular Boston.
DQ's and Autowins
There are no timers in this league.
If a player has to leave or is booted from table they will have till last card played to return for that round. If they are booted on the last two hands and they are winning the round , the TD should advance them to next round.
Before the person getting the auto win leaves the lounge ask them to see if they will sub for the person, explain the situation. This way if the person does not return the next round the TD can go back on the previous round and change the winner to the player with the auto win.
The TD will use their best judgement in these cases.
In teams tournaments, if one member of a team leaves or loses connection to the lounge, the other member can continue with a sub. In these cases there is no DQ.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
Courtesy of Play
This is an adult oriented league. However, minors may join. Players are asked to be aware of any minors in the league and observe appropriate decorum when they are present. If you wouldn't say it in front of your kids then don't say it in front of someone else's.
Players should refrain from coarse and vulgar language.
Bad cards and play happen. We've all seen and done it. Take it in stride and move on. Some players are working to improve their game. Please be tolerant. We all were rookies once. Mistakes are the best way for novices and intermediates to learn. As they improve their game the quality of play overall in the league will only get better.
Keep personal issues between players outside of the lounge/gamerooms. We've all seen enough soap operas. Please spare us.
Booting from the table - While not prohibited it is advised to keep this to a minimum. And be sure the person you are booting will not take offense. If you're not sure then don't. Booting can be distracting to players. If the game is close and/or serious, then please refrain from booting. If everyone is relaxed and just playing then go ahead. Once in awhile is fun. Too many times is annoying.
Observe general rules for etiquette and fair play.
Cheating will not be tolerated.
The league works because the players make it work. Often times subs are needed to round out the pairings and usually to play finals. Please help the TD's out by volunteering. Players are asked to use available subs in the lounge first. As a player you may not always get the sub you would like. Please be respectful and enjoy your game.
Violations of these rules may result in a verbal warning (first violation), boxing (no league play for a specified amount of time) for a second violation, or expulsion from the league for a third violation or for severe violations.
YAHOO CRASHES
If Yahoo crashes while you are playing a league game and all 4 players get booted, the game is cancelled.
If you are playing in a tournament and Yahoo crashes, just come back as soon as you can, you will not be timed. So hurry back. If everyone gets booted and no way to know score, the game will be started over.
If Yahoo almost crashes and players are getting booted and yahoo has a bad lag, we will just have to wait it out. If it is too bad, we will cancel the tournament.
If the server goes defunct and a player gets booted, get a sub to finish any hand in progress. Copy down the score, exit lounge and return to the new Yahoo Beginner 3, set table and start at old score. Once all games are over, exit lounge and reenter new Yahoo Beg 3 before restarting the next round.
TIME MANAGEMENT
In the interest of time and fair play, PLAYERS are not allowed to sub or play in other tournaments or games under any circumstances.
TD's will have to at times and at other times could be subbing in one tourney and playing in another. While we try to avoid it this is acceptable.
